Safety and Security Workshop

A workshop was organized by WiN at PIME in Ljubljana on the 17th February.

PIME is the annual meeting of communicators in the nuclear sector (industry, research, medical applications, education). It is the international gathering of nuclear communications professionals.

The moderator of this workshop was Gabriele Voigt, Director Office of Analytical Services Department of Safeguards (International Atomic Energy Agency).

Three speakers shared their expertise and experience with the audience.

A new WiN Chapter in Europe: WiN UK

The creation of WiN UK has been recently announced (December 2013). This creation is supported by NIA. WiN UK is co-chaired by Rebecca Holyhead (Senior Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers) and Miranda Kirschel (Head of European Business Development, Nuclear, with leading British engineering consultancy, Atkins).

WiN France celebrated its 20th anniversary

WiN France celebrated its 20th anniversary Dec. 12, 2013 during the ceremony of the 2013 Fem'Energia Award at the Grande Halle de la Villette, Paris. The WiN France award 2013 was presented by Malgorzata Tkachenko, 2012 winner and godmother of the 2013 award to Danièle BUTET, Headmaster of the school Montereau (77) who work for many years for the development of scholar curricula to provide opportunities for young in the nuclear business, in close collaboration with industrial partners.

On the same occasion of this anniversary of the “coup de coeur” award was presented to Bernard Jolly for the constant support he brought to WiN France throughout his tenure as General Delegate of the French Nuclear Society and has steadily accompanied the development of WiN France.

2013 Fem’Energia award

The fifth fem’Energia award ceremony took place in Paris on 12th of december.

This year the award for a professional lady working in Europe was presented to Dorina Zotica from Romania. Dorina is working at Cernavoda. She is Perfomance Monitoring superintendent.

The nominee was also coming from Romania : Ioana Livia Public relation specialist workin in Nuclearelectrica SA.

Both are members of WiN Romania.

WiN Global 2013 annual conference

The 21th WiN annual conference took place in Johannesburg.

182 WiNners were registered coming from 32 countries. One third was coming from outside South Africa.
This was the occasion for a better knowledge of nuclear activities of South Africa in the nuclear field. Two technical visits were proposed:

  • a tour to NECSA facilities
  • an other one Koeberg nuclear power plant.

One of the highlight of the conference was the two roundtables:

  • Nuclear Public Acceptance moderated by Dominique Mouillot, WiN Europe president
  • Nuclear Policy Post Fukushima moderated by Gaby Voigt, WiN Europe vice-president

WiN HISTORY BOOK: 20 years of WiN

altThe WiN History Book, ‘20 Years of WiN,’ has been presented on 6th October at Johannesburg during the opening session of the WiN Annual Conference.
This book commemorates the 20th Anniversary of WiN Global, established by the end 1992.
The book contains the History of WiN, WiN activities, WiN Presidents’ messages, descriptions of the WiN Chapters and of the past WiN Annual conference, etc.
The WiN Editorial Committee included: Irene Aegerter, Se-Moon Park, Anne-Marie Birac, Gabrielle Flannery, and Gabriele Voigt.
